Are You Busy? Don’t Have a Lot of Free Time? Is an Online Trainer for You?

If you are on social media, then you see the profiles all of the time. There are online personal trainers everywhere. They are particularly popular on Instagram, because the app is all pictures and allows the viewer to see the progress of the trainers, which includes the before and afters. Many of us don’t have the time to physically go to the gym. Between our jobs, and family responsibilities, making time to hit the gym can be nearly impossible. The training could be done over email or even Skype. You can use any type of mobile device and work out basically anywhere you want to. Online trainers can be convenient. Online like off-line personal training allows you to have a program tailored to your goals. You can choose a trainer from any country, so you have even more of a choice. Online trainers tend to have lower rates than those you meet with in person. You can also do more research on their current and past clients as they are often tagged in their posts. In additional to personal training, some offer nutritional services. This could be in the form of packets of supplements, meal kits, or personalized diets.

Can an Online Trainer be a Help or a Hinder?

Some may not actually be certified, many do not and you may not think to ask to see their accreditation. In addition, they are not able to watch you in person, therefore may not be able to correct your incorrect form, which could actually injure you in the long run. Some clients require trainers to be there to constantly motivate them. This is helpful especially if you get tired easily or are just not in the mood to work out on that day. Unfortunately there are several trainers who have had plastic surgery to achieve their results; and while this may not be completely determined in person, there is a better chance you can spot it. This observation can determine if you can actually trust your trainer. You also don’t have access to a full gym. Sometimes to get better results, some may need a good rapport with their trainer, they need to feel a personal connection with them. If there is only online training, they may in turn feel like strangers.

What Should You Do?

You have decide the pros and cons of online personal training for yourself. It all depends on your schedule, your budget, if you are self-motivated or need that extra push. You may be very traditional and prefer the in-person, one-on-one guidance. You may even want to start off with a trainer in person and then move to an online trainer. Whichever you choose, be sure that you are clear on communicating your goals and accountable for what you do and don’t do. Whether it is for getting ready for a wedding, or a summer vacation, good luck!
