Drop a Postcard

We like hearing from readers. A short note about a missing step, a question about a lighting idea, a place you think we should write about: all of it is welcome. There is no form to fill in and no account to create. Just write to us by email.

Email: team@vanalleswa.net

Postcards we hope to get

  • Corrections. If a fact, a step or a detail in one of our articles is wrong or out of date, please tell us. We would much rather fix it than leave it.
  • Questions about an article. If something we wrote left you unsure what to do next, ask. Your question may become an improvement to the piece.
  • Ideas. Rooms, renovations, trips, kit and habits you would like to read about are all fair game.
  • Business enquiries. Companies are welcome to get in touch too; we will reply when there is something to discuss.

What helps us reply

A little context saves a round of back-and-forth. If your note is about a particular article, include its title or link. If it is about streaming or a device, mention which one. For travel notes, the country or city helps. Please leave out passwords, card details and medical records; we never need them.

What we cannot do

We are a small team of writers, not a helpline. We cannot give personal medical, legal or financial advice, diagnose a problem in your home from a description, or recommend a particular tradesperson. For health questions, your GP or pharmacist is the right first contact. For urgent problems such as a gas smell, a serious leak or a medical emergency, contact the relevant emergency service straight away.

When you will hear back

All three of us read the shared inbox, and notes are passed to whoever wrote the article in question. We answer as soon as we can, though a busy week or a trip away can slow things down. Corrections are usually dealt with before anything else.

Not sure where to start reading? Try Questions From Our Readers, where we have gathered the things people ask most often, or meet the people behind the inbox on The Studio Team page.

This opens your email app with the message ready to send to team@vanalleswa.net. Nothing is stored on this site.

Before you write

Every postcard reaches a person

Notes sent to our address arrive in one shared inbox that all three of us read. Corrections go straight to whoever wrote the piece; ideas join the list we plan from.

A single sentence and the title of the article is often enough for us to act on.

Common questions

Before you hit send

Quick answers to what people usually ask about writing to the journal.

Can you advise on my own health or home?

We cannot give personal advice. A GP or pharmacist is the right contact for health questions, and a qualified tradesperson for work on your home.

Will you fix a mistake I found?

Yes. Send the article title and what looks wrong, and the writer of that piece will check it first.

Do you keep my email?

Just until the exchange is finished. We never add readers to a mailing list.

Can businesses get in touch?

They can. Use the same address and tell us briefly what you have in mind.
